Powell River RCMP received a report that a drill rig was damaged extensively due to fire. Work crews attended the work site in the early morning to find the damaged rig. The rig had been parked next to a road improvement project between Lund and Bliss Landing, on the Malaspina Forest Service Road. Police, along with forest service personnel attended and located the rig in a cleared area. The rig, a Tamrock Ranger, had been parked alongside a brush pile that appeared to have been set on fire. The fire travelled to the rig and caused extensive damage to it. Police, along with the BC Forest Service continue to investigate. 7000 block Duncan Street

Powell River RCMP received a report of theft from vehicles. Sometime during the night two commercial cube vans were broken into and tools, a Makita drill, driver and battery, were stolen.
