Highway 101 near Whalen Road
At approximately 12:45 pm an officer was conducting radar patrols when he clocked a vehicle travelling 136 kilometres per hour (km/h) in an 80 km/h zone. The vehicle was stopped and the 36-year-old driver from Powell River was issued a violation ticket for excessive speed. His vehicle was also impounded for seven days, a penalty that is issued to anyone caught going 40 km/h over the posted speed limit.
2. June 2
4800 block Manson Avenue
At approximately 10:15 am police responded to a report of a break and enter to a shop. Sometime between 9:20 am and 10 am several windows were broken to gain access. It is not believed that anything was stolen but the investigation is continuing.
