1. February 24
Wildwood Hill
The hill temporally became un-drivable by many vehicles during snowy conditions. For a short period of time around 3:30 pm the hill was restricted to single-lane traffic until snowplows could catch up and restore the road to drivable conditions.
2. February 28 and March 1
Westview area
Overnight a total of nine vehicles were entered and property was stolen. Numerous items were reported missing including iPods, GPS devices, portable DVD players, sunglasses, cigarettes and loose change. Anyone with information about these crimes is asked to please contact Powell River RCMP 604.485.6255 or CrimeStoppers 1.800.222.8477. This is a reminder for residents to remove anything of value inside their vehicles and to lock the doors when the vehicle is left unattended.
3. March 1
Joyce Avenue and Richmond Street
Around midnight a vehicle was stopped by police after it was observed to be driving at night without any lights on. It turned out that the driver was actually prohibited from driving and was impaired by alcohol. As a result, the driver is facing criminal charges of driving while prohibited and driving while impaired.
