1. Early April

A small pink and white rigid hull dinghy was found drifting approximately 1.5 kilometres north of the Shinglemill Pub and Bistro on Powell Lake. The dinghy has the words “Space Shuttle” on the sides. The RCMP are looking for the owner of this little boat so it can be returned.

2. Recently

Over the past 6 to 7 weeks a series of magnetic Telus signs have been stolen from various work vehicles in the Powell River area. Upwards of 30 to 40 magnetic signs have been stolen to date. The Powell River RCMP are looking for any information that could help return these signs to the rightful owners.

3. May 14

A Powell River resident received a phone call from an unknown person calling from a blocked number. The caller identified himself as an employee from Microsoft and convinced the computer owner to allow remote access to help fix an alleged problem. The caller then remotely shut down the computer and demanded money before fixing the alleged problem. The caller then ended the conversation and plans to take the computer to a local business to have it restored.

4. May 16

Mowat Avenue at Coburn Street

Powell River RCMP responded to a complaint of a male who was causing a disturbance and smashing windows of parked vehicles in the area. RCMP attended and arrested the intoxicated male for mischief and held him in police custody until sober. The RCMP have recommended the male be charged with Mischief Under $5,000 contrary to the Criminal Code.

5. May 16 and 17

5900 block Lund Street

A residence was broken into. Items missing include a black duffle bag, a school bag, and a PlayStation 4 with games, and numerous bottles of cologne. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to please contact Powell River RCMP 604.485.6255 or CrimeStoppers 1.800.222.8477 (TIPS).
