1. May 13
5500 block Willow Avenue
At midnight police responded to a hit and run. A vehicle had hit a sign. As officers were driving to the scene they observed a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle. The vehicle was pulled over and the 32-year-old Powell River resident displayed signs of impairment. He failed a breathalyzer test and is now facing charges of impaired driving and had his driver’s licence suspended for 90 days.
2. May 15
4900 block Fernwood Avenue
At approximately 3:20 am police responded to an attempted break and enter. Two unknown males were observed trying to pry open a door to a detached garage. The suspects were gone when police arrived and no entry was gained. The only description of the males was they were dressed in black. 3. May 15
Just after 9 pm an officer on patrol observed a vehicle leaving a local drinking establishment. The vehicle was stopped for a traffic infraction and the female driver displayed signs of alcohol consumption. Samples of her breath were obtained and as a result the 45-year-old from Powell River had her licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicle she was driving was impounded for 30 days.

7100 block Alberni Street
At around midnight police were called to an eating establishment’s parking lot to assist BC Ambulance Service paramedics with an unresponsive male. The investigation revealed that the driver was impaired by alcohol. Breath samples were obtained and the 47-year-old Fort St. John man had his licence suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded.
5. May 17
Westview Ferry Terminal
At 8:10 pm police were called to the Westview Ferry Terminal to a report of a possible impaired driver. The vehicle had driven onto the loading ramp even though the ferry had not yet docked. The driver displayed signs of alcohol consumption. Breath samples were obtained and due to the results the 31-year-old Gibsons resident had his licence suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded.
