1. October 7 and 8
Tomkinson Road and Wilde Road
A business was broken into. Entry was gained via smashing a window and various items were stolen including a small amount of cash, an iPad mini, an Acer laptop and a Makita chop saw. 2. October 8
Marine Avenue near Ewing Place
Powell River RCMP attended the scene of a motor vehicle collision where one of the drivers had fled on foot. After speaking to various witnesses and the driver who remained on scene the police were able to locate and arrest the fleeing driver. The driver who fled did not have a valid driver’s licence and has since been charged with failing to remain at the scene of an accident and driving without a valid driving licence.
3. October 9

Early morning, businesses were broken into in the Westview area. At approximately 5 am, RCMP responded to an alarm in the 4500 block of Marine Avenue. Upon arrival, police determined two businesses had been broken into. At 5:10 am, a business in the 7000 block of Alberni Street was broken into. Police responded after a neighbour heard glass smashing. The front door was smashed and a cashier’s till was empty. A vehicle of interest is described as an older Mazda, possibly four-door, grey or white, with a small spoiler and an old noisy muffler.
4. October 11
Powell River seawalk near Nootka Avenue
At approximately 5:45 am a female in her mid-30s was attacked and sexually assaulted while jogging. The victim explained she attempted to jog past an unidentified male, the male grabbed her and attempted to take advantage of her. The female was able to fight herself free, run home and call police. She described the suspect as a Caucasian male, late 20s, not muscular, under six feet in height, medium build, short dark hair. He was wearing dark cotton track pants, dark jacket with collar. Anyone in the area between 5 and 7 am is asked to please contact Constable Chard at Powell River RCMP, file number 2014-4587.
