1. September 21

4700 block Marine Avenue

Police responded to the report of a motor vehicle collision at 1:30 am. The investigation determined that a Ford F-150 had left the roadway and collided with a financial institution building causing significant damage to both the vehicle and the building. The driver, an 18-year-old male from Powell River was taken back to the police station where samples of his breath indicated a blood alcohol level above the legal limit. The investigation is continuing.

2. September 21

Texada Island

RCMP along with Texada Island Fire-Rescue and BC Ambulance Service responded to a serious motor vehicle incident on Texada Forest Service Road 1 approximately one kilometre from Shingle Beach at about 10:30 am. Once on scene it was determined that several of the occupants were seriously injured. The investigation revealed that the Mitsubishi Delica with its six occupants was heading northbound when the driver lost control, entered the ditch and collided with some trees. The 54-year-old driver, a 12-year-old male and an 11-year-old male were air-lifted to Vancouver with serious injuries. A collision reconstructionist has been called in to assist with the investigation.
