1. September 19, 20

6800 block Invermere Court

Sometime during the night unknown suspect(s) entered a vehicle that was parked at a residence. Once inside, an undisclosed amount of money was stolen from a wallet that had been left in the vehicle. Police encourage all vehicle owners to ensure all valuables are removed from their vehicle or placed out of sight and to ensure the vehicle is locked. This type of crime is normally opportunistic so a locked vehicle is a great deterrent.

2. September 22

5400 block Marine Avenue

At approximately 8:30 pm police received a complaint of a Ford Mustang being driven erratically in the area. A vehicle matching the description was located and stopped. The male driver displayed signs of impairment due to the consumption of alcohol. He provided a roadside breath sample which he subsequently failed. The driver was given a 90-day driving prohibition and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days even though the vehicle was not his. It was also learned that the driver was already prohibited from driving. The 46-year-old from Powell River is now facing a charge of prohibited driving and will appear in Powell River Provincial Court later this year.
