1. August 27

7200 block Thunder Bay Street

At approximately 3 pm police responded to a report of a break and enter to a residence. An unsecured window is believed to be how the suspect(s) gained entry. Once inside, the entire house was ransacked and numerous items stolen. A vehicle in the garage was also stolen. The vehicle is described as a 2005 white Buick Allure with BC plate 092 NRB. The Forensic Identification Section attended and examined the scene. Results are pending and the investigation is continuing.

2. August 29

7000 block Duncan Street

Police were called to a parking lot on a report of a hit and run. A 2013 Ford Mustang had been parked at that location between 9 am and 4 pm. Sometime during this period an unknown vehicle put a small scrape and dent in the Mustang’s passenger rear side. Damage is estimated to be approximately $1,500. Police would like to remind drivers that when they are involved in a collision there are certain duties required of them. If the vehicle is unattended, they need to make attempts to locate the owner of the vehicle or leave a note on the vehicle with their contact information. Failing to do so can result in a fine of between $196 and $368 or, in more serious cases, it can be classified as a criminal offence.

Anyone with information about these crimes is asked to please contact Powell River RCMP 604.485.6255 or, to remain anonymous, call CrimeStoppers 1.800.222.TIPS (8477) or online.
