The FHA notes only Public Health can determine who is a close contact with a COVID-19 case and that learning groups, friends or other connections may not be determined to be a close contact.

Eight Delta schools are starting off spring break on Fraser Health’s latest list of schools having had COVID-19 exposure events.

According to the FHA’s list published on its website Monday morning, McCloskey Elementary had an exposure March 8 and 9.

The other schools include Burnsview Secondary (March 1,2,3,5, 8), Jarvis Traditional Elementary (March 1, 2, 5), Ladner Elementary (March 1), North Delta Secondary (March 1, 2, 3, 4, 5), Richardson Elementary (March 2, 3), Seaquam Secondary (March 8) and Immaculate Conception (March 3, 4, 5).

Delta school board chair Val Windsor and district superintendent Doug Sheppard, in a letter to parents last week, reminded them of the importance to sticking to safety protocols as kids headed into the break.

“Unfortunately, rates of transmission in the Fraser Health region remain high. In order to keep our community as safe as possible and be able to return safely to school after spring break, we encourage you to ‘think small, think local’ this holiday. Now more than ever, we need everyone to do their part and follow the current Public Health Orders so that we can keep our schools and our communities’ safe,” they said.

They noted that while the provincial health officer announced changes to the health orders to allow outdoor gatherings of up to 10 people, parents are asked to keep their contacts to the same 10 people and continue with safety measures including mask wearing and physical distancing.
