Ferry routes impacted by storm

Evening sailings adjusted on Sunshine Coast’s Route 3 for Oct. 25
Ferry 3
Queen of Surrey makes a turn on Route 3.

As strong winds continue for much of B.C.’s south coast, BC Ferries cancelled sailings for 11 routes on Monday, Oct. 25.

One of the cancelled routes, between Horseshoe Bay and Nanaimo’s Departure Bay, will affect service to the Sunshine Coast on Route 3.

While Route 3 between Langdale and Horseshoe Bay was not cancelled, several evening sailings were adjusted, as the Nanaimo-based vessel that usually transports Sunshine Coast passengers in the later part of the day is not available until 8:45 p.m.

There won’t be a 5:30 p.m. sailing from Horseshoe Bay to Langdale, nor the return trip, BC Ferries’ Deborah Marshall told Coast Reporter via email.

A service notice posted on Sunday, Oct. 24, shows the updated schedule having a 6:30 p.m. sailing departing Horseshoe Bay, and a 7:30 p.m. return from Langdale.

There will be an 8:40 p.m. sailing departing Horseshoe Bay, and customers travelling from Earls Cove to Saltery Bay will be accommodated by the Malaspina Sky.

At 9:35 p.m., a sailing will depart from Langdale, while a 10:55 p.m. sailing will depart from Horseshoe Bay.

Status updates of all routes are available at bcferries.com.
