Ferry sailings cancelled between Powell River, Texada and Comox

High wind conditions result in two ferries holding in dock

TRAVEL ADVISORY: BC Ferries has cancelled the later morning sailing of Salish Orca from Comox due to high wind conditions.

BC Ferries has advised that the following November 8 Salish Orca sailings have been cancelled due to adverse weather conditions - high winds: the 9:55 am sailing departing Comox and the 11:50 am sailing departing Powell River.

BC Ferries also has advised that the following November 8 Island K’ulut’a sailings have been cancelled due to high winds: the 11:25 am sailing departing Texada Island and the 12:15 pm sailing departing Powell River.

According to a travel advisory for BC Ferries, the safety of its passengers and crew is of primary importance to the corporation.

“We don’t take the decision to cancel sailings lightly, as we know customers rely on us to get to their destinations,” the advisory stated. “We will resume service as soon as it is safe to do so.

“We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience experienced as a result of this cancellation.”
