One man is in custody on several charges after deciding to run from police who were investigating an impaired driver.
At approximately 8:20 pm on Thursday, June 6, Powell River RCMP responded to a call of a possible impaired driver in the Town Centre Mall parking lot outside Shoppers Drug Mart.
When they arrived on the scene, a male occupant of the vehicle climbed out of the car and tried to escape on foot.
When police caught up with the man, they discovered that the man was known to them and he was supposed to be under house arrest. He was asked to stay at the scene but he again tried to run. This time officers arrested him and after searching the man discovered he was in possession of cocaine.
Sean Robert Treloar, 24, from Powell River, faces charges of cocaine possession, resisting arrest and two charges of breaching his release conditions. He was remanded in custody and is scheduled to make his next court appearance on June 12 in Powell River Provincial Court.
