Four people have declared their candidacy for the City of Powell River byelection, according to city chief election officer Chris Jackson.

Four people have declared their candidacy for the City of Powell River byelection, according to city chief election officer Chris Jackson.

Former councillor George Doubt, whose seat was vacated after BC Supreme Court ruled the October 2018 general election result for the sixth seat on council invalid, Allan Drummond, who brought the petition to the court, former mayoral candidate Glenn Holstine, and former qathet Regional District alternate director Allan Rebane are running.

Doubt won the seat in the October election by two votes over Drummond.

Mail-in ballots will be available on Monday, March 3, and advance polls are Wednesday, March 27, and Wednesday, April 3.

The nomination period closed at 4 pm Friday, March 1. The byelection takes place on Saturday, April 6.
