Four thousand vaccines are expected for the province in the first round of Pfizer vaccines available over the next few weeks.
Premier John Horgan outlined the last ten months before giving way to science.
"The first rounds of the vaccine will be coming next week. It is a limited supply - but a good dry run for BC."
While Pfizer and Moderna are the first vaccines across the finish line, Dr. Bonnie Henry noted seven in total are on the way to Canada.
The first of seven manufacturers that Canada has contracts with are Pfizer and Moderna," she said today - expecting by April that more than 400,000 British Columbians will have been vaccinated.
"Today is an important day for BC. These are the vaccines that save lives."
"But that is not enough to stop the virus, or transmission," Dr. Henry added.
Premier Horgan said it was still important to keep committed to mask wearing, and distancing protocols through the holiday season and well into the new year.
