Texada Island Health Centre remains temporarily closed as of 3:30 pm on Tuesday, November 16. Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) announced the closure just before 7 pm on Monday, November 15, due to flooding.
“We are redirecting clients to Powell River General Hospital ED for COVID-19 testing, while those who wish to get vaccinated can go to the recreation centre in Powell River instead,” stated VCH.
In response to an enquiry from the Peak on November 16, VCH confirmed that the Texada Island Health Centre closure is due to the impact of recent inclement weather.
“The clinic team continues to support both home care and home-based vaccinations,” stated VCH. “We appreciate the understanding and cooperation of the community at this time.”
A vaccination clinic is also being held at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 232 on Texada to ensure vaccination appointments scheduled for November 16 are honoured, according to VCH.
