A former civil servant with experience in the telecommunications industry has been officially nominated as the BC Liberals’ candidate in the Powell River-Sunshine Coast riding.
Patrick Muncaster was formally nominated on Sunday, January 20, during a meeting in Davis Bay. He has experience working for the federal government including in a number of minister’s offices as well as in the federal public service. He also had a long private sector career in telecommunications and information technology.
“The people of Powell River-Sunshine Coast deserve a representative who will champion jobs and economic development in this region,” said Muncaster. “That is what my campaign is going to be focused on.”
Muncaster served as the president of the Powell River-Sunshine Coast BC Liberal riding association before deciding to run for the nomination.
“I’ve had an inside view of the renewal that has taken place with the BC Liberals over the past two years and I’m very optimistic about our direction,” Muncaster said. “Premier Christy Clark has rejuvenated our party and given us focus on important issues like jobs and skills training.”
The BC provincial election is May 14, 2013.
New Democratic Party MLA Nicholas Simons has represented the riding in Victoria since May 2005.
