SECOND ARREST: Powell River RCMP have arrested a man after a drug investigation, following a similar arrest less than a month ago.

A 61-year-old male has been arrested after a drug trafficking investigation.

According to a media release, Powell River RCMP staff sergeant Rod Wiebe stated that not even a month has passed since Ryan Ross was arrested for drug and weapons offences, yet he was arrested again after another drug trafficking investigation. Wiebe stated that on March 10 at approximately 12:30 pm, police were conducting a drug investigation in the 4800 block of Joyce Avenue when officers observed what they believed was a drug transaction taking place between several individuals.

“All three males were arrested, which resulted in the seizure of fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, over $4,200 in cash and a vehicle,” stated Wiebe. “Ross has been charged with multiple counts of drugs and weapons offences. He was taken before a justice and has been released on several conditions including house arrest.”

Wiebe stated the two other male suspects, a 69-year-old and a 50-year-old, both from Powell River, were released from custody to appear in Powell River provincial court on April 20.
