HIGH TIDE: The winds picked up in the evening and the tides in qathet were quite high for the past few days. The dock at Willingdon Beach [above] was submerged in water and a very unstable place to stand earlier this week.

The streak of hot weather has eased and more moderate temperatures have arrived in the qathet region this week.

Today, Friday, June 13, Weatherhood is forecasting a mix of sun and cloud, and a high temperature of 16 degrees this afternoon, dropping to nine degrees this evening. Tomorrow, June 14, there will also be a mix of sun and cloud and a high temperature of 17 degrees in the daytime.

Sunday, June 15, the temperature will hit 19 degrees with zero chance of precipitation; perfect weather for a day at the beach. Monday, June 16, the clouds will come in and up to 12 millimetres of rain is predicted to fall.

Now is the time of year when farmers' crops start producing greens, strawberries and a wide variety of produce. Gathered Farms and Florals will once again set up a farm stand every Wednesday outside of 32 Lakes Cafe and Bakery until September.

This Saturday is the launch of the Centralized Farmers' Market at the old civic area site at Willingdon Beach, starting at 10 am. Powell River Farmers' Market operates every Saturday, May until September and year-round on Sunday, in Paradise Valley.
