People in Powell River over the age of 70 will be able to book a COVID-19 vaccination appointment as of March 20.

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) will be taking bookings for the next group of residents to be vaccinated for COVID-19.

According to a media release from VCH, people in the Powell River area who were born in 1951 or earlier (70-plus), or indigenous people 55 years of age or older, can book a COVID-19 vaccine appointment by calling 1.877.587.5767 starting March 20.

To prepare for the call, callers are requested to have several items available. Required are a pen and paper, personal health number, full name, date of birth, postal code and phone number. The media release stated there are enough appointments available and there is no rush to call in. Call volumes are lower in the late afternoon and evening, the release stated. The appointment booking toll-free phone line is open from 7 am to 7 pm, seven days a week.

VCH is appealing to family members, friends, neighbours and social services agencies to help reach eligible people in the community.
