Powell River-Sunshine Coast provincial riding will not be changing for the next provincial election.
On Thursday, March 26, the BC Electoral Boundaries Commission released its preliminary report suggesting some changes to provincial ridings, but they suggested no changes for the Sunshine Coast.
In its report, the Commission rejected moving Hornby and Denman islands to the Powell River-Sunshine Coast riding, but instead suggested grouping those islands into a new riding that would also include Alberni Pacific Rim and other parts of the Comox Valley.
The Commission also suggested some other riding changes on Vancouver Island and two new ridings on the Lower Mainland.
The next steps in the process will include public hearings and input from area MLAs before a final report is released in September.
