Online plan participation

Residents can comment on objectives

Residents unable to attend meetings about the City of Powell River’s official community plan (OCP) can participate online.

Participants at two neighbourhood meetings last week made comments on objectives. Input and comments can also be made online at www.powellriverocp.com.

Another part of the plan is a cycling network, said Graham Farstad, of The Arlington Group. “We’re getting people to comment on where they see the priority linkages,” he said. “We’re getting pretty good response that the city sees this as an area that is attracting a lot of interest and it looks like it is something that can be done without breaking the bank.”

The process is all leading up to the fall, Farstad added. “We’re progressively getting more detail and drilling down into those aspects,” he said.

The next neighbourhood meetings take place from 6 to 8:30 pm on Monday, May 13, at James Thomson Elementary School in Wildwood and from 1 to 4 pm on Wednesday, May 15, at Cranberry Seniors’ Centre.

A land-use plan, including detailed land-use maps, will be available at those meetings, Farstad said.
