Powell River RCMP reported the following for January 17 to 22, 2019.

January 18; Michigan Avenue, 4400 block
At approximately 10:04 am, police responded to a theft. An emergency light was removed from the wall of the underground parking lot at an apartment building. The light was removed sometime between December 1, 2018, and January 18, 2019. It is valued at approximately $120.

January 18; Marine Avenue, 5000 block
At approximately 8:37 pm, police responded to a collision. A vehicle was located by police that had crashed into a tree. The 41-year-old male driver was still on scene and while police spoke with him, they detected an odour of liquor. Once the driver had been cleared medically he was taken to the RCMP detachment, where he provided a breath sample that registered over the legal limit. The driver is now facing charges related to  impaired driving.

January 19; Algoma Avenue, 4600 block
At approximately 1:21 pm, police responded to a theft report at Powell River Recreation Complex. Sometime between 7 and 8:30 pm on January 18, a number of items, including an Ipod Nano, headphones and a metal water bottle, were stolen from a locker in the women’s change room. Value of the stolen items is approximately $190.
