Break and enter: 9

July 1; Joyce Avenue, 4700 block
At approximately 8:05 pm, police responded to a break and enter in progress at the Community Resource Centre. Upon arrival, a 31-year-old male was located inside the building. The male caused damage to furniture and doors, and stole food and cleaning supplies. He was arrested and is facing charges of break and enter, mischief and theft under $5000.

July 2; Highway 101, 9900 block
At approximately 2:24 am, police responded to a break and enter at a business. Someone broke the lock and entered the building; 12 Interstate Batteries valued at approximately $1,800 were taken from inside.

July 2; Nass Street, 5800 block
At approximately 6:06 pm, police responded to a report of a single vehicle collision with a hydro pole. The driver, a 24-year-old female, showed signs of drug impairment while speaking to police. A standardized field sobriety test was completed, which resulted in a 24-hour driving prohibition.

Cops for Cancer
Powell River RCMP will be holding a burger and beer fundraising event at Townsite Brewing from 2 until 7 pm on July 7. This is the second event in the Cops and Hops series and all proceeds will go towards Cops for Cancer. Tickets are $20 and available at the detachment, Townsite Brewing or from this year’s Cops for Cancer Rider, staff sergeant Rod Wiebe. Please come out and support this worthwhile cause, have a burger and some laughs taking part in the horse races.
