April 16; Cranberry Street, 6700 block
Police executed a search warrant at an industrial property. As a result, approximately 1,150 marijuana plants were seized along with a large amount of growing equipment. Operations of this magnitude are usually linked to organized crime, and it is estimated that if the plants could have been harvested, the street value would be approximately $325,000. Value of the seized grow equipment is approximately $100,000. This matter is under investigation and police expect to lay charges on the suspect(s).

April 17; Highway 101, north
At approximately 1:34 am, police were conducting patrols near Wildwood Hill when a red light and smoke was observed coming from the side of the road. Police stopped and located a car, which had sustained extensive damage, wedged between two trees. An unconscious female was located in the driver seat. Police and ambulance assisted in removing the female from the driver’s seat; a short time later the car caught on fire. The 27-year-old female sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision and was taken to Powell River General Hospital for assessment. Alcohol is believed to be involved. This matter is still under investigation.

April 18; Joyce Avenue, 4400 block
At approximately 3:44 am, police responded to an alarm at Carlson Community Club. Upon arrival, it was observed that one of the exterior doors had been pried open and was left ajar. Police checked the building with a property representative and determined that nothing was missing. At approximately 4:53 am on the same day, police responded to a second alarm at the club. This time, an unknown person entered the building and police found that the cash register behind the bar had been opened and the ATM machine pried open.
