Powell River RCMP reported the following for February 4 to 10, 2021.

Total calls for service: 84
Thefts: 3
Assaults: 1
Impaired driving: 4
Mischief: 5
Break and enter: 1

February 5; Joyce Avenue, 3800 block
At approximately 9:09 pm, police responded to a report of a stolen mountain bike. Sometime between 7:30 and 9 pm that day, an unknown person entered a carport and stole a black men’s mountain bike valued at approximately $100.

February 6: Marine Avenue, 4700 block
At approximately 10:46 am, police received a report of a theft. A vintage vending machine valued at approximately $5,000 was stolen from an office building at that location. It also has significant sentimental value for the owners. The time and date the machine was stolen is unknown.

February 9: Oak Street, 6300 block
At approximately 11:23 pm, police stopped a vehicle after it was seen trying to evade a police check stop. RCMP spoke to the driver, a 44-year-old Powell River male, and detected an odour of liquor on his breath. Two breath samples were obtained; both registered a fail on the approved screening device. The driver was issued a 90-day roadside driving prohibition under provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
