Powell River RCMP reported the following for February 9 to 15, 2022.

February 9; Joyce Avenue, 4900 block
Powell River RCMP received a report of a stolen bicycle from a residence. The bike had been locked up and the thief cut the lock to steal it. The owner recognized the bike outside of a residence in the 4900 block of Joyce Avenue. The bicycle has been recovered and returned to the owner. Police are investigating the theft.

February 10; Burnaby Street, 6800 block
Police received a report of a theft of a dark green, Norco Pinnacle bicycle with dark green shocks from a residence in the 6800 block of Burnaby Street. The thief cut the lock to steal the bicycle from the back of the residence. 

February 11; Saturna Avenue
RCMP received four separate reports of theft from vehicles on Saturna Avenue in Westview. All four vehicles had been left unlocked overnight. Items taken ranged from garage door openers, mail key, gift card and face masks.  

February 11; Lois Lake
RCMP received a report of a stolen white Pontiac Sunrunner. The vehicle had been parked at a boat launch near Lois Lake.

February 13; Manson Avenue, 5400 block
A weed eater was stolen from a garden shed in the 5400 block of Manson Avenue. The shed was damaged as a result of the offender breaking into it.  

February 15; Court report
On December 14, 2021, Gregory George Rubletz, 45 years old, of Powell River, was arrested on unendorsed warrants. On February 15, 2022, Rubletz appeared in Powell River Provincial Court and was convicted on five separate Powell River RCMP investigations.
The investigations he was convicted on are: one count of theft of mail in April 2020; one count of break and enter in May 2020; one count of dangerous operation of a conveyance dated June 25, 2020; one count of theft under $5,000 from June 29, 2020; and one count of theft under $5,000 in February 2021.
Rubletz was sentenced to a one-year conditional sentence order to be served in the community. Crown counsel directed a stay of proceedings on a theft of vehicle charge, and a theft charge.
