Powell River RCMP officers reported the following for January 25 to 31, 2023.

Total calls for service: 124
Thefts: 11
Break and enter: 5
Impaired driving: 3
Assaults: 4
Mischief: 5
Mental health: 12

January 26; Joyce Avenue, 4700 block
At approximately 12:31 pm, police received a report of a hit and run that had occurred the previous day. A witness to the accident reported that they observed a vehicle strike and cause damage to a fence. No pedestrians were involved. A BC licence plate number had been obtained by the witness and the owner of the vehicle was issued a violation ticket for Failure to Remain at the Scene of an Accident under the Motor Vehicle Act.

January 30; Marine Avenue, 4400 block
At approximately 1:58 am, Powell River RCMP responded to a report that a male was banging a bottle against the window of a business. Upon arrival, police located a 37-year-old male who was rambling and uncooperative. The male was arrested for Cause Disturbance and brought to detachment cells. The male was issued a violation ticket for Intoxication in a Public Place under the Liquor Control and Licensing Act and was released when sober.

January 30; Fernwood Avenue, 4500 block
At approximately 9:24 am, Powell River RCMP responded to a 911 call of a break and enter in progress at a residence. The homeowner caught a male inside his residence attempting to steal property and phoned police. Upon arrival, officers located the male in the backyard of the residence and he was arrested for Break and Enter. The 40-year-old male was released to appear in court.
