Powell River RCMP responded to 129 total calls for service from October 9 to 16, including nine thefts, two break and enters, two for impaired driving, six related to assaults, eight cases of mischief and five related to mental health.
October 11; Joyce Avenue
A approximately 8:44 pm, police received a report of a theft that took place at Powell River Recreation Complex.
Sometime between 6:30 and 8 pm on the same day, someone took a black purse containing identification, a black Samsung phone, vehicle keys and a blue and purple sweatshirt from one of the lockers in the changeroom.
The investigation is ongoing, and officers are asking any potential witnesses to contact Powell River RCMP.
October 12; Joyce Avenue
At approximately 8:22 pm, police responded to a report of a man committing an indecent act in the pool at Powell River Recreation Complex.
A witness provided a description of the man and advised police he may still be in the building. As police arrived, they observed someone matching the description provided, and at the same time the witness came out and positively identified him.
The man was arrested by police and later released on an undertaking with conditions. He is to appear in court at a later date.
The investigation is ongoing, and police are asking any potential witnesses to contact Powell River RCMP.
