Voters in Powell River will face a hotly contested campaign in the 2018 general election leading up to voting day on Saturday, October 20.

Declaration of candidates for City of Powell River mayor and council, School District 47 and qathet Regional District closed on Friday, September 14.

Three people are running for mayor of City of Powell River, 14 candidates are vying for six positions on city council, eight people have put their names forward for five school board trustee seats and 11 are running for qathet Regional District electoral area director positions.

City of Powell River mayor:
Ron Woznow made his intentions known in January that he would be taking on incumbent mayor Dave Formosa. Fomosa, who was elected by acclamation in 2014, will also face Glenn Holstine.
