INFORMATION REQUESTED: Tourism Powell River had a better year in 2021 than in 2020, which was significantly affected by the pandemic. While current levels are below pre-pandemic levels, the need for visitor information is increasing.

According to a rise and report at the December 21 City of Powell River Council meeting, at a closed meeting two weeks earlier, council passed a motion regarding the service agreement for visitor information services.

The motion included renewing the service agreement with Tourism Powell River for a one-year term with funding of $111,000 and revised deliverables in the agreement that provide specific direction for how the city’s funding is to be applied so that the scope for duplication is limited.

The motion also included giving notice to Tourism Powell River and Sunshine Coast Tourism that during the spring of 2024, a request for proposals will be made for visitor information services for subsequent years.
