School District 47 will be providing support for Powell River Festival of the Performing Arts.

At the January 18 board of education meeting, chairperson Dale Lawson indicated in correspondence to the festival that the school district would be providing $500, and that the rental cost of Max Cameron Theatre would be waived for the festival. Lawson also confirmed that the speech arts entry costs for students of School District 47 will again be paid for by the school district.

“The festival is very important to the students of School District 47 and we thank your organization for the work and dedication in organizing this,” stated Lawson in her letter.

This year’s festival starts February 24 and concludes March 4.
