TRADING PLACES: After starting his BC Hockey League career with Cranbrook Bucks, forward Jaxon Fuder [right] will join the Powell River Kings’ lineup when play resumes at the end of December.

Powell River Kings have acquired 2006-born forward Jaxon Fuder and future considerations in a trade with Cranbrook Bucks that sees the BC Hockey League (BCHL) playing rights to Noah Eyre going the other way.

17-year-old Fuder is from Cold Lake, Alberta, and comes to the Kings with plenty of BCHL experience for a player of his age. He made his BCHL debut two years ago at the age of 15, playing in two games for the Bucks before joining that team full time last season as a 16-year-old.

This season Fuder has scored twice and added three assists in 15 games.

“Expect to see some speed and physicality from him in green and gold,” stated Kings’ assistant general manager Stephan Seeger Jr. “He will add some depth to our young core of forwards and has good habits for the small details.”

So far in his BCHL career, the young forward has suited up in 56 games, scoring six times and helping set up 14 other goals. He also played in the BCHL top prospects game last season.

Prior to playing in the BCHL, Fuder played at West Van Academy, where he was teammates with current King Carter Lundie.

Eyre, who was in his second season with the Kings, has played in 25 games during the 2023/2024 season. He scored nine goals and 22 assists before joining Sioux Falls Stampede of the United States Hockey League last week.

Fuder will make his Kings’ debut against Coquitlam Express on December 29 and 30. Those games at Hap Parker Arena will also be the first home appearances for new Kings Rémi Gélinas and Simone Dadiè, who have impressed in the four games they’ve played so far since joining the team.
