In response to the latest heat wave, which is anticipated to last until Sunday, Powell River Public Library is offering its location as a cooling centre, according to a media release from assistant chief librarian Natalie Porter.
The facility is air conditioned with seating a water fountain and air ventilation. The library will also expand seating into the First Credit Union Community room, where an additional water source is provided.
"The library is an ideal place to avoid the heat," stated Porter. "Powell River residents can stay cool, relax and pass the time enjoying books, magazines and our computers."
Opening hours are from 10 am to 8:30 pm on Friday, 10 am to 6 pm Saturday and 1 to 5 pm Sunday.
