TOP ENFORCERS: Five Powell River RCMP members were formally recognized for their work in helping keep impaired drivers off the roads.

In February, five members of the Powell River RCMP were formally recognized for their outstanding work by Alexa’s Team for their impaired driving enforcement in British Columbia.

According to a media release from Powell River RCMP, corporal Phil Caza, constable Tony Stewart, constable Jeremy Pye, constable Mike Doyle and constable Jennifer Crossman (since transferred) all received awards for their impaired driving enforcement for their work in 2021.

Alexa’s Team is named for Alexa Middelaer, who was just four years old when she was killed by an impaired driver in 2008, according to the release. Police officers who have completed a minimum of 12 alcohol and/or drug investigations in a single year are added to the team.
