Powell River Regional Hospital Board authorizes budget amendment for cleanup

Powell River Regional Hospital District has approved a budget amendment to account for the cost of regularly inspecting and cleaning the property and clearing brush along Abbotsford Street and Joyce Avenue.

The board also approved that a budget amendment bylaw be forwarded to the November 2019 board meeting.

At the Wednesday, September 18, Powell River Regional Hospital Board meeting, qathet Regional District Electoral Area B director Mark Gisborne noted that brush had been cleared in the area and that there is someone in there.

Hospital board chair CaroleAnn Leishman said it will probably be monitored by staff.

A cleanup of the area with mess created by illegal campers had cost the regional hospital district $1,100. A staff report had recommended that the regional hospital board approve a budget amendment to account for the cost of regularly inspecting and cleaning the property and clearing brush along Abbotsford Street and Joyce Avenue, and that a budget amendment bylaw be forwarded to the November 2019 board meeting.
