Work began on City of Powell River’s consolidated wastewater treatment plant (CWWTP) on October 14.

According to a media release from the city, the initial phase will involve clearing of vegetation, grubbing of stumps and removal of rubbish from the site.

Signage and traffic control will be in place near the existing wastewater treatment plant in Townsite and portions of Haul Road. Access to First Beach (also known as Second Beach and Townsite Beach) will be impeded. Trails in the old golf course lands will be temporarily affected with some closures and detours for alternatives clearly marked, the release stated.

Augusta Recyclers has been contracted for the work.
