qathet Regional District (qRD) has adopted the 2024 to 2026 accessibility plan to guide the regional district in improving accessibility over the next three years.
At the March 6 regional board meeting, a staff report outlined that the Accessible British Columbia Act was enacted in June 2021, requiring regional districts to establish an accessibility committee, develop an accessibility plan and implement a tool to receive feedback on the plan and other concerns.
On January 24, the board passed a motion to include $64,045 in the 2024 budget to begin implementing the priority actions identified in the plan, which was developed in conjunction with City of Powell River, Powell River Public Library, and the joint accessibility and inclusion advisory committee.
