qathet Regional District (qRD) has approved a $23,000 grant-in-aid for Powell River Outdoor Recreation Users Group Trail Society (ORUG) for annual trail maintenance. The board approved the grant at its July 26 meeting.
The request from ORUG for its annual trail maintenance project was for $58,772. According to ORUG’s application to qRD, volunteers from ORUG member groups are managing and constructing a huge network of multi-use trails and other recreational amenities throughout the regional district.
Members provide trails for hikers, bikers, horseback riders, ATV riders, skiers, snowboarders, snowmobilers, motorcyclists and other users, according to the application.
