CONCISE OVERVIEW: qathet Regional District’s resource-recovery centre and waste-transfer station site has undergone significant development, paving the way for a modern, innovative centre for processing solid waste.

qathet Regional District (qRD) directors have passed a security issuing bylaw to borrow funds for the regional district’s resource-recovery centre and waste-transfer station.

At the May 24 regional board meeting, directors gave three readings and final adoption to the bylaw, which authorizes borrowing of $5.5 million over a term of 30 years from the Municipal Finance Authority of British Columbia for construction of the facility.

At the May 3 finance committee meeting, directors were provided a report on the borrowing.
