Further financing
At the June 30 regional board meeting, approval was granted by qathet Regional District (qRD) directors for a security issuing bylaw to finance a further $5 million for City of Powell River for its consolidated wastewater treatment plant.

At the June 22 finance committee meeting, qRD manager of financial services Linda Greenan said the borrowing request was “pretty standard.”

Requests bridge
The board will send a letter to minister of transportation and infrastructure Rob Fleming requesting the implementation of pedestrian/cycling bridges at Lang Creek on Highway 101.

At the June 16 committee of the whole meeting, Electoral Area C director Clay Brander, in whose electoral area the Lang Creek bridge is located, brought the recommendation to the committee.

The board will also send letters to School District 47, City of Powell River, Tourism Powell River, Powell River-Sunshine Coast MLA Nicholas Simons and Powell River Salmon Society requesting that they send letters of support for the initiative to the highway ministry.
