Board to consider emergency preparedness fund application; Updated housing needs assessment recommended; Camping waiver fee discussed

Consider application
At the June 7 qathet Regional District finance committee meeting, members suggested the regional board consider an application to the Union of British Columbia Municipalities community emergency preparedness fund extreme temperature risk mapping, assessment and planning for qathet region. The committee also recommended that the board endorse carrying out the proposed project collaboratively with Tla’amin Nation and City of Powell River. The third recommendation is that the board endorse qathet Regional District providing overall grant management for this project.

Housing assessment
The finance committee recommended to the board that the regional district contract Patricia Mahoney to complete an updated housing needs assessment for Electoral Areas A, B, C and D for a total contract value of $12,500.

Waiver fee
The committee is recommending to the board that a camping waiver fee be issued for two campsites at Shelter Point Regional Park campground from July 14 to 17 to the Skim Jam session organizers at sandcastle weekend.
