Sending correspondence
qathet Regional District (qRD) will be sending correspondence to City of Powell River’s mayor and council regarding the social planning service.
At the December 10 regional board meeting, directors carried the motion the write the city regarding the status of the shared goal of social planning in the region, and the expected time frame for filling the social planner position. Also in the motion was that Tla’amin Nation’s executive council be copied with the correspondence.
The regional district, city and Tla’amin have in past shared and paid for the social planning position, which was vacated about 18 months ago. The city has indicated it will give consideration to the continuation of the position in its coming five-year financial plan deliberations.
Adopts policy
A policy has been adopted regarding agricultural land reserve exclusion to guide decisions relating to requests from landowners seeking support from qRD to apply to the provincial Agricultural Land Commission for exclusion of land from the agriculture land reserve.
According to a staff report, the policy, which was reviewed by the qRD’s agricultural advisory committee, was revised by staff and includes additional criteria for land exchange and provision for the agricultural advisory committee to recommend alternatives to exclusion.
