Provide report
qathet Regional District’s board will be directing staff to provide a report on potential options to bring qathet Museum and Archives funding needs into compliance.

Regional directors passed the motion at the April 24 regional board meeting, following a presentation from museum board president George Wall on the expenditure of regional district funds on a shelving unit project for the museum.

Staff directed
The board will direct staff to provide a collation of the total tax requisitions and residential tax rates by service and area from the financial plans for the fiscal years 2014 to 2024 and the annual requisition comparison by service. The board also rescinded a motion from the January 2024 board meeting that the board direct staff to produce a similar document that contains the total contributions.

Meeting accepted
Ministry of agriculture will be invited, along with the regional district’s agricultural advisory committee, Powell River City Council, Tla’amin Nation Executive Council and interested members of the regional board, to an upcoming meeting outlining agricultural use planning and the legislative tools available for consideration by local government elected officials.

Funding wanted
The committee voted to postpone a motion that the Union of British Columbia Municipalities ask the ministry of transportation and infrastructure (MOTI) to provide funding to restore culverts on MOTI-managed roads. Electoral Area D director and committee chair Sandy McCormick said directors would be meeting with MOTI officials, where the issue would be an agenda item and discussed.

The motion will be postponed until the May committee of the whole meeting.
