At the qathet Regional District finance committee meeting on September 20, a recommendation came forward that the board respectfully deny the request from Myrtle Point Golf Club for a permissive tax exemption for the 2023 tax year.

While the regional board had approved permissive tax exemptions in 2018 and 2019, the golf club had been denied in 2020, 2021 and 2022.

According to a staff report, the tax exemption for the golf club, if sanctioned, was estimated at $5,935 for the 2023 tax year.

The staff report stated that based on the application provided, the club does not meet the criteria for a permissive tax exemption.
