Highway crash
A motor vehicle accident on Sunday, July 3 at about 3:50 pm on Highway 101 just south of Dixon Road sent a local motorcycle driver to Vancouver General Hospital. RCMP said that the accident involved a motorcycle and a vehicle but that the exact cause of the incident is still under investigation. Details on the motorcycle driver’s injuries are unknown but RCMP said that he will survive. The driver of the vehicle was unharmed.
Highway 101 was closed between Dixon and Phillips roads.
Setting it straight
It was incorrectly reported in the June 15 edition of the Peak that ongoing upgrades to the helipad at Powell River General Hospital will allow nighttime helicopter flights. Nighttime helicopter flights have been possible since 2005 after upgrades funded by the Powell River General Hospital Foundation.
