Sailing cancellations

BC Ferries has cancelled four round trips on the Powell River-Comox route over the May 4 and 5 weekend.

Three round trips have been cancelled on Saturday, May 4, leaving the first round trip of the day—the 6:30 am from Little River and the 8:10 am from Powell River—the only sailing on the route. All other sailings have been cancelled, as well as the first round trip on Sunday, May 5—the 6:30 am from Little River and the 8:10 am from Powell River.

Service will resume with the 10:10 am sailing from Little River on Sunday.

According to BC Ferries, the Queen of Burnaby crew will be deploying emergency evacuation equipment for regulatory and training purposes. BC Ferries will also use this opportunity to provide some required maintenance at the same time.

BC Ferries says reservations are recommended and can be made by visiting its website, www.bcferries.com or by calling 1.888.223.3779.

Additionally, a schedule change on the Horseshoe Bay-Langdale route could affect Powell River residents travelling to and from the Lower Mainland. BC Ferries has a modified schedule for the route, in effect from Monday, April 29 through Tuesday, May 7, due to a dock closure of one of the berths at Langdale to replace ramp abutment hinges. The modified schedule is in place to utilize single ramp loading on the second Langdale berth.

The regular schedule will be back in place on Wednesday, May 8. The schedule for the Saltery Bay-Earls Cove route is not changing.

The modified schedule is available on BC Ferries website.
