Table talks
A roundtable moderated by John Weston, MP for West Vancouver-Sunshine Coast-Sea to Sky Country, was held Tuesday, August 2. Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada Rob Nicholson discussed achievements such as increasing sentences for gun-related crimes, repeal of the Faint Hope Clause and Two-For-One sentencing credit.
Weston’s recently-enacted Bill C-475, “Tackling Crystal Meth and Ecstasy,” was mentioned.
Setting it straight
In an article relating to boating safety in the Peak, August 3, Canadian Coast Guard was misidentified as Canadian Coast Guard auxiliary number 101. Captain Hal Ross, in an email to the Peak, also noted the Coast Guard is a 24/7 search and rescue agency and does not increase its presence for special events of any kind.
