Pot advocate mulls run

Marijuana activist Dana Larsen is pondering a run for the BC New Democratic Party (NDP) leadership. Larsen, former leader of the BC Marijuana Party, ran as an NDP candidate in the West Vancouver-Sunshine Coast-Sea to Sky Country riding in 2008, but resigned after videos surfaced showing him high on drugs while driving.

Larsen has said he would be more than a one-issue candidate.

A one-member, one-vote provincial NDP leadership election is set for April 17, 2011.

Regional park

Powell River Regional District directors adopted a bylaw amendment at a recent meeting that makes Paradise Exhibition Park grounds a regional park. The change will allow the expenditure of funds for improvements that address public safety. Paradise Exhibition Park Society will continue to lease the property.
