Liver transplant
A Powell River resident with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) has had a liver transplant. Joey Whitford received a new liver on Friday, February 11 at Vancouver General Hospital.
Whitford’s wife, Kirstin Kennedy, is updating his condition on the couple’s blog, Cystic Fibrosis Sucks.
CF is a genetic disease that primarily affects the lungs and digestive system. Whitford had a double lung transplant in 2007. He had been on the liver transplant waiting list since September 30, 2009.
Brief session
BC’s legislature resumed Monday, February 14 for a four-day session. Premier Gordon Campbell’s 14th and final speech from the throne recounted his government’s accomplishments after nearly a decade in power.
The BC Liberal Party elects a new leader on February 26.
